POSTSCRIPT

    After learning IS4SI's Notice on Calling for Papers on the 2023 Beijing Summit, Huaguang Academy of Information science at Wuhan (hereinafter referred to as Huaguang Academy) discussed in groups before the paper deadline, and completed 8 papers, with 14 signatures, which were submitted to the three forums of "Information Society", "Information science", and "Information Philosophy" respectively. After the deadline for the paper, Li Zongrong wrote an open letter to the Founding Presidents of IS4SI and the presidents of the 2023 Beijing Summit, sorting out the logical connections of the previous 8 papers and requesting criticism. Then, Li Zongrong followed the existing ideas and wrote the 9th and 10th articles in his personal name, reviewing the achievements of the decade since the 2013 Moscow Summit. As a report to the sponsors, organizers, and attendees of the conference, he extensively solicited criticism and suggestions. So, this collection of articles was compiled and dedicated to the 2023 Beijing Summit.

    To sum up, in the ten years from 2013 to 2023, Li Zongrong and his research team, on the basis of previous "theoretical informatics" achievements, focused on the establishment of "Information science" and "information philosophy" of Dualism，and try to reinterpret the “mind-body problem”.

The Information science of Monism borrows the scientific paradigm of physics; The method of "measurement-data-formularization" is effective in the research of Shannon's communication theory, because Shannon's "measurement" is actually "message", not "information", and information is the "meaning" of the message. A person who receives a message may not understand its meaning at all, just like receiving a telegram from an enemy battlefield troop mobilization but unable to decipher it. Common sense tells us that when students in primary, secondary, and college schools face the compilation of textbooks and classic texts every day, measuring their data and studying their formulas may yield nothing. In fact, just as Chinese teachers divide paragraphs and summarize the general idea and theme of paragraphs after explaining words and sentences, we use the "Hermeneutics" method, that is, the "informatics" method. Therefore, we believe that it is difficult to surpass Shannon's Mathematical Theory of Communication with the hope of using physical methods to establish Information science. In our research, we proposed that the method of informatics is the "logic-algorithm-program" method, and provided a detailed and practical discussion.

With regard to the "information philosophy" of Monism, we believe that even if researchers use the "Dialectic" of the existence and evolution of "material + information", it is difficult to achieve their goals. Because viewing 'information' as a 'moon in the water' and a 'flower in the mirror' form of existence, all human civilization (culture) carried by language and writing cannot be said to be an “indirect” “nihility” determined by “material”. For example, "rights", "obligations", and "legal responsibilities" do not have their corresponding "individuals" in nature, let alone the "universals" of certain "material" individuals; They are the naming of "abstract" "concepts, ideas, and concepts" manifested in human social behavior, as well as special "rights" and universal "rights". All Humanities and social sciences (including information philosophy) are a network of knowledge applicable in different fields and departments, with these "concepts" as nodes and "logic" as chains. Therefore, only the information philosophy of Dualism can reasonably explain the cultural phenomena.

Article 24 of the Constitution stipulates that the state shall educate the people in "Dialectical materialism and Historical materialism". We believe that Li Dazhao's "My Outlook on Marxism" in 1919 comprehensively and systematically stated Marx's own "historical materialism", "Socialist economics" and "socialist movement theory", did not mention "Dialectic", and did not divide "Marx’s philosophy" into "Dialectical materialism + Historical materialism". At that time, the Central Committee of the Soviet Communist Party agreed with Li Dazhao's openly published view of Marxism, so it sent people to Peking University to find Li Dazhao and proposed to help Chinese Marxists establish the "Communist Party". Li Dazhao suggested that they go to Chen Duxiu in Shanghai. Later, in 1938, Stalin's Dialectical materialism and Historical materialism was basically a typical expression of Stalin's philosophy, which had nothing to do with Marxist philosophy. In 1956, after Khrushchev's secret report criticized Stalin, Stalin's philosophy has been brought to an end. Later philosophers of Gorbachev and Putin's philosophy became increasingly distant from Stalin's philosophy. But in China, the Principle of Marxist Philosophy edited by the Philosophy Institute of the Science Academy of the Soviet Union was published in 1959. In 1961, Ai Siqi published Dialectical Materialism Historical Materialism as a philosophy textbook for Chinese ordinary universities, Party schools, and cadre schools. Afterwards, the textbooks have been continuously revised, but they not deviate from its roots. We believe that it is time to end Stalin's philosophy and return to Marx’s philosophy. Only in this way can we effectively develop Marxist philosophy, interpret Marxist Political Economy and Scientific Socialism, and make Marx’s philosophy suit to China. Otherwise, if Marx had knowledge underground, he would angrily say, "I am not a Marxist!”

Since Aristotle returned to Athens in 335 BC to write Physics and After Physics (metaphysics), despite the influence of Descartes' "Dualism of mind and body", people still dislike "Dualism" and believe that "materialism" is right. Since Li Zongrong studied Introduction to Philosophy with American college students in 1994, he has insisted on reinterpreting Plato's Dualism's "theory of ideas" with the principles of information science. Li Zongrong believes that the "smartphones" of the information society make everyone a producer, seller, and consumer of information, and people may achieve nothing without "information". So, we can finally identify with Plato: “matter” exists, and “idea' also exists; The unchanging “concept” is more tangible and valuable than the “impermanent” material. Euclidean geometry has been studied by all mankind for thousands of years, and will continue to do so in the future.

In the history of human thought, there is a term called "the Tragedy of the Prophet". Those who move against the trend, although later recognized, are usually miserable when they live. However, Li Zongrong and colleagues at the Huaguang Academy have determined this path and are willing to be the ignorant children in Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes".

In this article set, three appendices are arranged. The first is Mathematical Theory of Communication and Information science of Communication, co-written by Li Zongrong, Chen Shaohua, Zhang Jianwei, and Tian Aijing, published in the Advances of Social Sciences, Issue 9, 2019. The author points out that, in his paper "Mathematical Theory of Communication", Shannon quantitatively describes the physical law of the transmission process of "electric signal" on "channel" by using the mathematical methods of probability statistics and calculus, which fully conforms to the paradigm of natural science and is praised as a scientific model for "quantitative" research of information. However, we believe that the object of Shannon's "quantitative" research is not "information", but "message". Messages are the “carriers” of information, which can be quantified whether they are "signals" or "symbols". However, the information which is "content" or "meaning" of material carriers has no weight, and does not occupy space; it does not exist in Newton's time, therefore, we cannot make a physical space-time measurement for it. In this sense, Shannon's "theory of information" is actually "theory of message". So called "Information science" based on Shannon's mathematical physical method actually is "communication science", or "generalized Information theory". Before Shannon's thesis, human beings took "language" as the carrier and successfully constructed the communication history of human society for thousands of years. However, from Wilbur Schramm, people began to study the concepts, principles and methods of communication in accordance with Shannon's paradigm of "mathematical-physical method". Although progress has been made in the past hundred years, it is difficult to make a fundamental breakthrough. The authors of this paper point out that the communication science does not belong to natural science, but an information science. We should use the space-time view and scientific paradigm of information science to re-observe and express communication science.

 The second is the "Conclusion of the Development Trend of Contemporary Western Philosophy" in the "Analysis of contemporary Western philosophy thoughts" (the key textbook of Marxist theoretical research and construction project). We think that the author only used 15000 words to describe a concise "map" of contemporary Western philosophy. The author has discussed philosophers' “ideological positions” several times to distinguish them from “political positions” and “class positions”. The author said: "Except for a few Christian philosophers, most of the current Western philosophers are Materialists. Although many philosophers do not explicitly claim to be Materialists, they do not put forward or support any Idealism thesis." Obviously, we cannot say that most Western philosophers stand on the "political position" of the revolutionary party, the proletariat and socialism, it cannot be said that the proletarian "Materialism" has won worldwide victory in the struggle against "Idealism". In this way, accusing those scholars who criticize the shortcomings of "Materialism" for their "political position" is problematic, which clearly blurs the boundaries between academic and political.

The third appendix is around 16000 words about the "Definition" of Philosophy, Plato's Idealism, and "Mind-Body Problem" in Li Zongrong's philosophy textbook "Voice of Wisdom" (9th edition) in the University of Missouri. At that time, the textbook was the second edition. When Li Zongrong saw Plato's statement that humans are composed of mind and body, and the value of the mind is higher, he paid homage: I am advocating that the value of computer software is higher than that of hardware. Li Zongrong's favorite teaching courses are "Introduction to Computer", "Software Engineering", and "Artificial Intelligence"; Compared to humans, of course, the soul is more valuable. However, Li Zongrong immediately "cooled his back": Plato was the originator of "Objective idealism", the spokesman of the true slave owner class, and the "sworn enemy" of the revolutionary party, the working class and socialism. The principles of Materialism in college philosophy courses can only be passed if you recite them thoroughly. However, when discussing with Joseph Bien, the head of the philosophy department, and other professors, Li Zongrong found that these bourgeois philosophers were defenders of the official philosophy (Materialism) of the proletarian state. So, Li Zongrong boldly made up his mind to reinterpret Plato with concepts and theories about computers and "information"; It has been 30 years now. In particular, the efforts of the past 10 years have finally sharpened the sword of Dualist Information Science and Information Philosophy, and have made their first attempt at reinterpreting Plato and Descartes' mind-body problem.
